It will be a palatial stadium in a premier, easy-to-reach location making it ideal for major events of all kinds.Today, the PAC-12 conference announced that they will be relocating the PAC-12 Championship Game to the new Raiders stadium for the 2020 and 2021 seasons and possibly beyond that. It makes a ton of sense, as Vegas is a central location for every team in the conference and the PAC-12 conference basketball tournament is already held in Las Vegas. For the PAC-12’s first three years, the championship game was played at the home stadiums of one of the teams involved, and was played at Oregon in Eugene, at Stanford and at Arizona State in Tempe. For the last six years, it’s been played at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, where the grass is farmed and cultivated in the very Pit of Hell. At least the game is played at night so spectators don’t have to deal with the sun like the unfortunate Niners fans who show up there for games every week. The game being played in Las Vegas should be a far more pleasant experience for everyone involved. They successfully traded for Antonio Brown, arguably the best wide receiver in the league, without parting with a first round draft pick. In addition, the team added multiple players during the draft that all should produce immediately, including the fourth overall selection Clelin Ferrell.Obviously it remains to be seen whether those moves will pan out or not. But on paper, this appears to be one of the most talented rosters in recent memory, and the Raiders may not be done adding to it. In a recent article, Brad Gagnon of Bleacher report claims that the Raiders may be interested in bolstering their defense some more by trading for the Jacksonville Jaguars star cornerback Jalen Ramsey.Talks would surely start at a first round draft pick and go from there. The Raiders do have an extra first round selection in the 2020 draft courtesy of the Khalil Mack trade Bo Jackson Jersey , but do they want to part with that capital for a star with an attitude issue? The franchise already has multiple enigmas in house with Brown, Richie Incognito, and head coach Jon Gruden. Adding another boisterous personality to the fold would be great for content on Hard Knocks, but could prove to be costly in terms of team cohesiveness.Nonetheless, Ramsey’s talent is undeniable. Perhaps the attitude adds to his talent, who knows. Coming off of consecutive Pro-Bowl seasons, the 24-year-old has established himself as one of the best young, shut down cornerbacks in the league. His All-Pro season in 2017 was very impressive, recording 4 interceptions and 17 passes defended. His 2018 season was not as stellar as the previous, but many factors played into that. He lost his cornerback partner in AJ Bouye and the entire team regressed heavily. Ramsey allowed 163 more yards than 2017, but still managed to tally 3 interceptions and 13 passes defended.Despite taking a pretty significant step back in 2018, Ramsey is still a top-tier cornerback. With a young and unproven secondary in Oakland, it could make a lot of sense for the Raiders to pull the trigger. Pairing Gareon Conley with Ramsey for the foreseeable future could be quite the spectacle. Current general manager Mike Mayock loved Ramsey coming out of Florida State, ranking him as his number one corner and number two overall prospect in the 2016 NFL Draft. Is Mayock still infatuated with Ramsey? No way of knowing. If the Raiders truly want to win now for the city of Oakland, this move makes that more likely as Ramsey would instantly improve the secondary. However, he only has one more season on his contract and he carries a hefty $13.7 million cap hit. For possibly only one year of service, the asking price for a trade would be way too much. While a very talented player, there are too many question marks surrounding Ramsey for the Raiders to strongly consider trading for him. With no guarantee of signing a new contract or actually wanting to play in Oakland, shipping a first round draft pick for Ramsey is too steep of a price.Hedging the future for a one-year run? Not the smartest idea. However the Raiders organization in recent years has been anything but predictable, especially in the front office. The pros and cons are both there, and it is easy to see why the Silver and Black could want to add Ramsey to the ranks. For me, it just seems like too hefty a price for a big personality and no guarantee of anything more than one season. What do you think?
