with a broken bone in his back Youth Derek Barnett Jersey , Jay Ajayi wanted more work. And he doesn’t understand why he didn’t get it.The Eagles running back said after yesterday’s loss to the Vikings that he didn’t understand coach Doug Pederson leaning away from the running game early in the game.“Obviously we want to be able to run the ball early and start that rhythm early in the beginning of the game. If I remember correctly, we had maybe three carries at the end of the first quarter,” Ajayi said, via Tim McManus of ESPN.com.“With the offensive line we have on this team, running the ball like that, that doesn’t make sense to me.”Ajayi didn’t get a carry until the second quarter, and only had eight for the day, as the Eagles had a lopsided 35-17 pass-run ratio. They averaged 4.8 yards per play when they ran, but didn’t do it enough. In last week’s loss to the Titans, they threw 50 passes and ran just 22 times (at 5.3 yards per attempt). When they did start running more in the second half Ajayi fumbled, but his larger point may have some merit. With Carson Wentz coming back from last year’s knee injury, establishing some degree of run game could offer the kind of protection that’s not always there when you’re dropping back to pass repeatedly. He’s been sacked 12 times and taken 27 hits in three games.Ajayi would love to help reduce those numbers.Eagles News: Philadelphia’s defense off to an ‘outstanding’ start Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ... Defense Comes Up Huge - Iggles BlitzJim Schwartz’s defense was simply outstanding. They started off slow, but then got their feet under them and played at a high level. One of the signs of a really good defense is that even when they are giving up yards, as the Eagles did early, they bow up in the Red Zone and limit points. That’s just what the Eagles did. Atlanta finished the game 1 for 5 in the RZ. Heck, they were 1 for 4 in Goal to Go situations. That’s crazy. The defensive line was great. Atlanta had a chance to win the game on their final drive. The Eagles mainly rushed four and got regular pressure. Sure, the Falcons were able to move the ball, but Matt Ryan took plenty of hits and Atlanta used a lot of time to move the ball. Fletcher Cox and Brandon Graham were getting a lot of inside pressure. Graham would just drive the RG back into Ryan. Chris Long was terrific all night. He had 1.5 sacks and a FF.Eagles v. Falcons: 22 winners, losers, and I dunnos - BGNA man looks back to full quickness, let me tell you. I don’t know if they rushed Ronald Darby back from his 2017 ankle injury, but there seems to be an added spring in Darby’s step this season. His ability to make plays at the catch point with elite quickness — he is not long at all — shines. Darby gave up a healthy amount of yardage to Julio Jones on those deep outs/comebacks he runs so well, but that’s okay. Most corners in the league can’t do as well of a job as Darby did, and I’m sure Jim Schwartz would ask more of his pass rush on those particular reps. That blown 3rd and 18 was really quite poor; the 4th and goal stop maybe made up for it.The Kist & Solak Show #7: Eagles Over Falcons Recap - BGN RadioMichael Kist and Benjamin Solak recap the sloppy, but fruitful season opener for the Eagles. PLUS Three Words from the listeners!Handing out 10 awards from the Eagles-Falcons game - PhillyVoice2) The ‘Get Well Soon’ Award: Carson Wentz. Foles can certainly catch the football, but he had trouble throwing it. On the night, Foles was 19 of 34 for 117 yards (3.4 YPA), and a QB rating of 50.7. And he’s lucky it wasn’t worse, as Robert Alford somehow dropped a gift-wrapped INT, like Keanu Neal did a year ago in the playoffs.Bond between Wentz, Eagles fans nourished by mutual adoration - NFL.com“I think the biggest thing is the blue-collar work ethic. That’s what the fans love, that’s what this city is kind of built on and founded on,” Wentz said while seated on the back of the food truck, taking a break from handing out food as onlookers snapped pictures and videos. “When fans see that in players, it resonates with them, and they buy in. That’s how I was raised, that’s how Zach (Ertz) is and a lot of other guys, as well. They’re going to work their tails off and do everything we can to provide wins for the city, and we love doing it.” It’s more than that, though. There’s something about Wentz that allowed him to immediately pass the Philly fans’ smell test in ways other talented and hard-working athletes didn’t.Eagles Win A Thriller To Open Season - PE.comThis was a perfect start, a perfect ending, to the start of the 2018 NFL season. On a night when the opening kickoff, as well as the unveiling of the Super Bowl championship banner, was delayed 45 minutes because of a drenching thunder and lightning storm in the area, the Eagles rocked Lincoln Financial Field with a physical, emotional, and defensive-led 18-12 win over the Atlanta Falcons in a game that was eerily similar to the playoff win over the Falcons in January. “Crazy, right?” safety Rodney McLeod said. “I’m over there thinking, yeah Youth Dallas Goedert Jersey , this is the same kind of game so let’s go out and win it the same way.”With opening win in the books, Doug Pederson can breathe a little easier - ESPNBut the offense probably won’t be where Pederson wants it until Wentz is back, which helps explain his grumpiness just about any time the subject has come up of late. He can breathe a little easier now, though, that his Eagles are 1-0. ”The defense had a hell of a game,” offensive tackle Lane Johnson said. “Hats off to them. Without them, we’re not winning that game. Offense, we’ll pick our stuff up. Kind of sluggish this game but executed when we needed to. Moving forward, we’re going to pick it up against Tampa.”Refocused, NFL Week 1: Philadelphia Eagles 18, Atlanta Falcons 12 - PFFThe last time we saw quarterback Nick Foles, he was at his very best, but Thursday night against the Falcons, he had some struggles. While he only threw one interception on the night, he could have easily had a second one, after he misread the coverage and threw a pass straight to cornerback Robert Alford, who dropped what should have been an interception. Tight end Zach Ertz also had a disappointing game, and if the Eagles offense is going to work at peak efficiency this year, they will need Ertz to get back to his best. During the contest, he dropped a couple of catchable passes, and he also looked overwhelmed in the run game.Nelson Agholor’s 8-catch, 33-yard stat line is almost unheard of - PFTEagles wide receiver Nelson Agholor did something on Thursday night that no NFL wide receiver has done in more than five years: He caught eight passes, and finished the game with less than 40 yards. Agholor finished with eight catches for 33 yards, the fewest yards gained for a wide receiver who had at least eight catches in a game since Washington’s Brandon Banks in 2012.2018 Staff Predictions - Football OutsidersVincent Verhei: Philadelphia Eagles over Pittsburgh Steelers. I know the Eagles are due for serious regression on third downs and in the red zone, but I can’t get past the fact that as soon as Carson Wentz hits the field http://www.eaglesfootballauthentics.com/darren-sproles-jersey-authentic , they will be a more talented team than the one that beat New England in the Super Bowl. As for Pittsburgh, there are really only two good teams in the AFC, and I already said that Tom Brady will decline, so Steelers win the conference by default.Winning a Mother F*ing Super Bowl | - The RingerDo you suffer from lower back pain? I think there’s a huge need for us to turn the attention towards the issues and, not only the issues, but what players are doing in their communities to affect change,” Jenkins said in the locker room early Friday morning.Philly fans burn infamous ‘SUPERBOWLS 0’ jersey at Eagles tailgate - NBCSPRemember when the Eagles had never won a Super Bowl? Those were dark days, no doubt. New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins fans used to love to show Philly fans an image of an empty trophy case and rub it in our faces. One New York fan who apparently goes by “License Plate Guy” even spent actual American dollars to make a custom Eagles jersey with “SUPERBOWLS” on the name plate and “0” as the number. Because the Eagles had won zero Super Bowls. His football brain kicked into top gear and there was terminology and schematic philosophy flying around everywhere. It was like being in one of those big boxes that shoots money up in the air and you get to keep whatever you can grab. Even listening back to the conversation at three-quarters speed, it’s hard to keep up.The Eagles are built to survive the Nick Foles roller coaster - SB NationThe season is just getting started, and as long as Foles doesn’t bury the Eagles in the standings — something that seems even less likely after a 1-0 start — Philadelphia’s real hopes at defending its Super Bowl title rest in Wentz’s hands. Or his knee, really. Wentz was well on his way to the NFL MVP award in 2017 before his knee injury. He had 33 touchdowns with seven interceptions, and a passer rating of 101.9. If he’s that same player again upon his return, good luck stopping the Eagles....Social Media Information:BGN Facebook Page: Click here to like our pageBGN Twitter: Follow @BleedingGreenBGN Manager: Brandon Lee Gowton: Follow @BrandonGowtonBGN Radio Twitter: Follow @BGN_Radio
